Freedom Sisters launch annual campaign against domestic violence

Residents, businesses asked to shine purple lights to show support for survivors; campaign kick-off comes just days after mass murder-suicide devastated the city
Freedom Sisters SSM will be launching its annual Shine the Light Campaign starting today.
They are asking residents and merchants in Sault Ste. Marie to take part by shining purple light bulbs outside of their homes or businesses to show support for survivors of domestic violence, according to a news release.
Light bulbs are available by donation. Contact Freedom Sisters through Facebook or email. Bulbs will also be available at the Korah Holiday Craft Show.
The Community is asked to share pictures of purple lights shining to the email address for a chance to win a $100 Mastercard.
Freedom Sisters will be hosting two art contests, one for youth and one for adults. The contest will run all of November. More information is available on the Facebook page.
Purple ribbons will be tied along Queen Street to show solidarity with survivors of domestic violence. City council will be supporting this campaign with a proclamation.
